The Maintenance Manager has responsibility to ensure efficient productivity, quality of workmanship, engagement and safety of the maintenance operations personnel in a unionized facility. The Maintenance Manager also sets departmental goals and provides direction, guidance, professional development for up to 15 primary employees.

The position reports to:  Plant Leader


  • Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities.

  • Ensure a safe, clean and environmentally compliant facility and promote a culture that reflects our fanatical stance on safety first
  • Ensure self and staff accomplish all safety engagement activities each month and take an active role in Critical 6 Safety Program management
  • Ensure staff understands, knows where to find documented and follows all safe work procedures (LTT, guarding, electrical, confined space, working from heights, etc.)

  • Maintain Rigor around Reliability Work Process/Total Productive Maintenance/TPM PM Pillar Ownership

  • Maintain an appropriate work order closure rate as set and reviewed at least annually with immediate Leader.
  • Track and communicate work order notifications with all relevant staff members
  • Ensure staff is trained, maintains current on any required certifications and that all parties understand and are capable of performing the full scope of their job expectations to comply with RWP and engage in the PM Pillar efforts.
  • Holds department accountable for delivering to targeted goals,and stretches each to their full potential regularly.

  • Balance Office and Floor Presence to Accomplish Varied Tasks

  • Maintains budget  (labor, contractor, repair & replacement) and inventory of spare parts in a fiscally responsible fashion
  • Provides trend analysis data to staff with regard to relevant work processes and products
  • Understands day-to-day production challenges, repeating/nagging issues ensuring proper prioritization of work-partners collaboratively with Operations Management.

  • Technical & Leadership Competence

  • Demonstrates an understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities
  • Manages all capital projects/installations professionally and delivers committed results timely and cost effectively
  • Provides evidenced mentoring to skilled craftsmen and staff personnel and demonstrates work behaviors consistent with expectations.
  • Ensures performance management and timekeeping processes are managed appropriately.

Job Requirements


  • Engineering Degree – Associates or Bachelor’s from an accredited university highly preferred
  • Certification – CMRP highly preferred
  • Industrial Mechanical and Electrical background, with a minimum of 3 years leadership responsibilities
  • Experience, knowledge or formal training in Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt)
  • Ability to initiate, drive, and sustain change and a proven track record of achieving results through employee engagement

Computer/Software Skills:

  • Previous experience/proficiency with navigating maintenance management systems (MMS) {i.e. Maximo, SAP}
  • Ability to proficiently utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Provide mentoring, grooming, and inspiration  for succession planning of your team
  • Provide technically adept guidance that displays an understanding of industrial mechanics, electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC’s, AC/DC theory, motors, etc. to craftsmen.
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time
